Ernest (Ernie) E. Jordan , 74, of Coral Drive, South Bend, Indiana passed away at 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 13, 1929 in Ashland, Ohio to Ernest E. and Esther (Hawk) Jordan who preceded him in death along with a grandson, Brian David Jordan . On Aug. 16, 1952 in St. Matthew Cathedral he married Joan Farkas. Ernie is survived by his wife, Joan; children, David Michael (Daniel Lawrence) Jordan of Chicago, Illinois, Pat (Rhoda) Jordan of Bremen, Barb (Phillip) Hale of South Bend, Chris (Kari) Jordan of Naples, Florida; grandchildren, Brad (Mary) Jordan , Shannon Jordan , Cal Jordan , Skylar Jordan , Nici, Ashley and Cassie Emond; his dog, Bailey and several nieces and nephews; sisters, Virginia Kemp, Loretta Guljas Boncea, Joyace Morrison; brothers, Walter Jordan , Ralph Jordan , Robert Jordan and Edward Jordan . The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Kim Patterson, his guardian angel for all her support and help. After Ernie was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force, serving as a training sergeant, Ernie was an engineer at Uniroyal for 30 years. He was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral; was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #5521, South Bend FOP #36, the Eagles, the Ireland Ridge Swim Club, the District 11 Little League Administrator, past president South East Little League, and an usher for Notre Dame football for over 30 years. He loved fishing, Notre Dame, the Cleveland Indians and the Chicago Cubs. He was also a volunteer at the International Special Olympics. Visitation will be on Sunday, Jan. 25 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 2 p.m. Funeral services will be on Monday, January 26 at 9 a.m. in St. Matthew Cathedral. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, c/o any Policeman's Federal Credit Union. "Pops" will be missed and his memory cherished by all his friends and family. We love you Pops.
