Diana Claire (Beke) Meeks, age 52, passed away on March 9th, 2014 at the Kobacker House. She was born March 28, 1961 in South Bend, IN, daughter of Roger and Esther (Simonis) Beke. She met her husband, Michael, in 1984 in her hometown of South Bend, Indiana, where they wed in 1988. Diana and Michael raised their children, Marie, Claire, and Joseph in Columbus, Ohio. Diana valued education, earning her high school diploma at St. Joseph's, and her Bachelor Degree in sociology and Master of Planning Administration at Indiana University. She worked as a community planner until Marie was born, then focused on raising her children. She always read to them, crafted with them, and took them to Ohio landmarks. Diana loved to create. When her children were young, she often made their clothes, including their baptismal gowns. She made beautiful cakes for celebrations, and always made sure her children had the best school projects. Diana enjoyed spending time in her garden and with her friends. She always got a thrill out of finding deals at thrift stores, felt peaceful watching the birds, and rested while cuddling with her dog, Peaches. All who knew her will remember her fun loving and nurturing personality. She is survived by her husband and children; her sister, Barbara Botka and her mother, Esther Beke, both of South Bend, Indiana. After a hard winter of breast cancer, she has joined her father, Roger, in eternal spring. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 13th 2014, at 11:30 am, at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 1088 Thomas Lane in Columbus, preceded by family receiving friends after 10:30 am until time of Mass. A Catholic Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, March 15, 2014 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
