SOUTH BEND - Joan D. Roberts, 73, of South Bend, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012, at her daughter Karen Salvador's residence. Joan was born on July 17, 1939, in Mishawaka, IN, to the late Joseph and Anna (Knutelska) Ciszczon. On August 28, 1971, Joan married Don Roberts at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Granger, IN. Joan and Don were married for 12 years. Don passed away on April 13, 1984. Joan is survived by her 3 children, Karen (George) Salvador of South Bend, IN, Patrick (Allison) Roberts of High Bridge, New Jersey, and Andrew (Annemarie) Roberts of Denver, CO. Joan was a grandmother to 6 grandchildren, Emilia Salvador, Dylan Harley, Luke, Sam Roberts and Sophia, and Ryder Roberts. Also surviving Joan are 3 sisters, Julia Ciszczon, Emily Ciszczon and Stella (Ray) Chamberlin, all of Mishawaka, IN; and 5 brothers, Joseph (Julie Ann) Ciszczon of Mishawaka, IN, Ed (Bonnie) Ciszczon of Phoenix, AZ, Michael (Carolyn) Ciszczon of South Carolina, Stan (Helen) Ciszczon of Cleveland, OH, and Steve (Rose) Ciszczon of Granger, IN. Four brothers, Walter, Ted, Julius and Henry Ciszczon, preceded Joan in death. Joan was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Granger, IN. She retired as a food server from the University of Notre Dame after 20 years of service. Joan loved and cherished her family, especially her grandchildren most of all. The family will receive friends today, December 18th, from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm, with a vigil service at 4:00 pm, at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, with one hour visitation prior, on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with Msgr. William Schooler officiating. Burial will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Foundation, 4220 Edison Lakes Pkwy., Suite 210, Mishawaka, IN 46545-1440.
