James K. Pogotis

James K. Pogotis, 68, for 29 years the operator of a resort, The Riverside Café on the St. Joseph-Eklhart County line, died at 7:45 p.m. Thursday in his home, 307 S. Franklin St. He had been ill for three months. He was born in Greece, Oct. 26, 1886, and came to South Bend 34 years ago. On Jan. 8, 1927, he married the former Daisy Ackenback, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Kosmas J., of South Bend; two stepsons, Morgan Barkas of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Henry Barkas, of South Bend; three step-daughters, Mrs. Frances Ishmael of Peoria, Ill., Mrs. Jesssie Curry,of Kilburne, Ill., and Mrs. Bonnie Stucker of Mishawaka, and a brother and sister in Greece. A veteran of World War I, Pogotis was a member of Post 308, American Legion, Osceola, and St. Andrew's Greek Orthodox Church. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Saturday in the Russell Funeral Home.
