Barbara K. Machowiak, 61, of Osceola, Ind., passed away on Thursday, June 8, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, IN. Barbara was born November 14, 1944, in South Bend, to A.J. and Mary (Hanyzewski) VanVlasselaer, who survive. Also surviving are three sons, Scott of Osceola, Nick and Grace of Granger, and Todd and fiancée, Stephanie Wood, of Indianapolis, IN; two grandchildren, Shawn and Brandon; a brother, Rick and Cheri VanVlasselaer of Mishawaka, IN; a niece, Sara and Chris Gondocs, and their son, Dillon, of New Carlisle, Ind. Barbara worked at IUSB as an administrative assistant for the School of Social Work and was a financial assistant for American Express for the past 16 years. She was a member of the Pilot International Club of South Bend. Family and friends are calling today, June 11, from 2 to 6 p.m. in the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 132560 SR 23, Granger. Services will be on Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
