Emma Hartman of 7887 N. County Road 600 East, Saugany Lake, Rolling Prairie, Ind., died Friday, March 12, in Memorial Hospital. She was born to Andrew and Mary Fuzy on Sept. 8, 1919, in Bertrand, Mich. on April 13, 1940, she married Andrew Hartman. Preceding her in death was her husband, Andrew. He passed away on April 25, 1971; a grandson, Lance Hartman, who passed away on Jan. 30, 1989. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Fuze.
She leaves behind a sister, Mary Ann Moon of Granger, Ind.; three children, Patricia (Douglas) Massey of Rolling Prairie, Andrew (Katherine) Hartman of North Port, Fla., and Robert (Ellen) Hartman of LaPorte, Ind.; five grandchildren, Todd Hartman, Lori Murray, Lisa Massey, Robert Hartman, Krystle Hartman; and nine great-grandchildren, Ashley, Jordan, Lilly, Grace, Daniel, Elizabeth, Tyler, Jessica and Liam. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Emma loved to do needlepoint and left behind a beautiful legacy of her handicraft. She will be greatly missed, but we know she is with God and he will hold her in his hands. She was a very private person and requested no funeral services and no viewing. Her wishes will be respected. There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. Monday in the Chapel Mausoleum in Highland Cemetery, 2257 Portage Ave, South Bend.In lieu of flowers, hug your family that means the most to you and tell them how much they mean to you...Mom's last words were "I love you" and we think she would appreciate it if you would pass it on.
Arrangements are being handled by Morning Star Funeral & Cremations, 21275 W. Cleveland Road, South Bend.
