From his obituary July 7, 1945
Albin was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry Posthumously. Aa a Platoon Sergeant, having encountered enemy fire from concealed positions, Albin was forced to withdraw his platoon to safety. He then started to crawl to his radio to report the position to artillery. It was neccessary for him to cross open ground to reach the radio during which he was wounded several times. Despite his wounds he reached the radio and made the report which silenced the enemy fire thereby saving his fellow platoon members. Albin had been wounded twice before in seperate actions.
