Richard L. Melser, 93, passed away on Saturday November 5, 2022 in South Bend, IN. He was born on December 30, 1928 in South Bend to the late Floyd and Helen (Erickson) Melser. Richard graduated from Central High School and joined the Air Force. He married the love of his life, Mary Ellen (Smith) Melser on January 6, 1951, in South Bend. Richard is survived by his two daughters, Sharon LeVeque of Bremen, IN and Lucinda Kendrick of Lake Elsinore, CA; son, Richard “Dick” Melser Jr. of Bremen; five grandchildren, Michelle LeVeque Dunbar, Rhonda (Kevin) LeVeque Gradeless, Michael Donahue Jr., Christina Donahue Fry, and Sue Ellen Donahue; nine great grandchildren, Britton, Hannah, Corinne, and Brooke Dunbar, Kathryn, Leah, and Owen Gradeless, Travis and Kimberly Buck; Sister-in-law Bea Melser of South Bend. Along with his parents, Richard is also preceded in death by his wife and three brothers, Floyd, John, and Harry Melser. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Palmer Funeral Home - Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, IN. Reverend Mike Rayburn will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
