Rex Lowell Cave
April 12, 1940 - February 20, 2022
(Mishawaka, IN & Ellsworth, ME) - Rex Lowell Cave, age 81, originally of Mishawaka, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022. Rex was born April 12, 1940, in Mishawaka, Indiana to the late Milford and Pauline (Wentland) Cave. The Mishawaka High School graduate proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before settling down in Ellsworth, Maine. Rex is Survived by his son, Jason (Sheree) Cave and grandson, Maximus of Redondo Beach, California. Also surviving are his siblings, Terry (Leona), and Bill Cave, Doris Bueche, Colleen Cave, Barbara Cave, and Freida Soto. Preceding him in death were his sisters, Kathleen Cave and Maralee Mauk, and his brothers Jerry Cave and Roger Cave. The Cave family would like to thank Rex’s close friends in every state, but especially Junkman John Clouse, Don Poston and Sunday Jim for their care, concern and friendship shown to Rex throughout the years. The Cave family would like to invite Rex’s friends and family to observe interment August 12, 2022, at 10:30am at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden, Osceola, IN. After which, all are invited to celebrate his life with sharing of memories and stories. Rex was an accomplished carpenter and spent many years as a self-employed contractor throughout Down East Maine. He was also well known in the community as always ready for a cup of coffee and a good story. He was extremely generous with his skill and time - never hesitating to lend a hand or make a quick repair for someone in need. Rex loved to scuba dive - pursuing scallops and lobsters along the rocky coast. But it was always about his family and friends - he loved spending time catching up on local news and giving his perspective of politics. In his memory, please take time to be with those you love, and give some of your time to those that may need it.
