WALKERTON - Emma M. Van De Putte, 71, 6715 North State Road 23, Walkerton, Indiana, 46574, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, at 5:59 a.m. at the Hospice House in South Bend, Indiana. Emma was born on November 15, 1941, in Florence, Alabama, to Robert and Earline (Murphy) Kilburn. Emma and Walter Van De Putte were united in marriage, in South Bend, at the Monson Community United Methodist Chapel, on June 11, 1960. They renewed their wedding vows on their 25th anniversary in the same church they were married. Both Walter and Emma are members of their church. Emma loved being with her grandchildren and making her famous "apple squares" and "mac and cheese" for them. She enjoyed playing golf and spending time working in her flower garden. Emma worked as a grocery broker in the sales department. They moved to Walkerton, in 1999, from Georgia. Emma is survived by her husband, Walter Van De Putte; their sons, Don (Maureen) Van De Putte of Temperance, Michigan, Ron (Cindy) Van De Putte of Hamlet, Indiana, and Ken (Janna) Van De Putte of Culver, Indiana; her brother, Willdale Kilburn of Walkerton; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorials may be given to The Center for Hospice Care, 112 South Center Street, Plymouth, Indiana 46563; or to American Cancer, 130 Red Coach Drive, Mishawaka, Indiana 46545. Visitation is Tuesday, June 25, 2013, 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana 46563. Services are Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Van Gilder Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Burr Oak Cemetery, Culver. Memories may be shared at www.vangilderfuneralhome.com.
