Sister M. Clotilda entered the Sisters of St. Francis in 1896. She completed her nursing education at St. Joseph Creighton Memorial Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska in 1906 and became a licensed registered nurse in Indiana in 1918. Her hospital career was in Hammond, Terre Haute, Beech Grove, Logansport and Lafayette where she served at St. Elizabeth Hospital from October 1945 to June 1971 and where for the last few years she visited patients. She specialized in orthopedic nursing, but made rounds to other areas of the medical center where she was known as "Sister Sunshine". In 1971, she retired to live at the Lady of Angels Retirement Home in Mishawaka, Indiana. She died in the 92nd year of her life and in the 77th year of her religious life. She observed her 75th diamond jubilee in 1971 and was the oldest active nurse in the order. Death was due to malignancy and the infirmities of old age.
