Gustav R. Borkowski, 65, Rt. 1, Mill Creek, died today in Holy Family Hospital, LaPorte, Indiana. He had been ill for six months. He was born in Germany on April 15, 1896. He moved to Mill Creek from New Carlisle 20 years ago. On Oct 30, 1922 in Terre Coupe, Indiana, he married Mary Wroblewski. He had been employed at the Studebaker-Packard Corp. for 45 years and retired in 1956. Surviving besides his widow are five sons, Gustav of South Bend; Edward of LaPorte, Arthur and Richard, both of Mill Creek and Raymond, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Josephine Piotrowski of Sarasota, Florida; and Mrs. Helen Wesszo of South Bend; two brothers, John and Adolph Borkowski, both of South Bend; a stepsister, Mrs. Minnie Grayboch of South Bend, and 13 grandchildren. Friends may call after 7 pm Tuesday in the Kaniewski and Son Chapel. Funeral Services will be Thursday in St. Hedwige’s Catholic Church, with Rev. Boleslaw Sztuczko, CSC, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. He was a veteran of WWI, a member of the Polish National Alliance, Group 83, and Studebaker-Packard Local 5, UAW.
