MISHAWAKA -- Edward L. Lewinski, 76, of Dale Avenue, died at 2 p.m. Sunday (April 30, 2000) at Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation Center in South Bend. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will be at Star City West Cemetery in Star City, Ind., with Hahn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Lewinski was born Sept. 16, 1923, in South Bend, the son of Edward J. and Hylana (Robwoblewski) Lewinski and married Virginia Eckenberger on July 30, 1966. His wife survives with four sons, Gerald of Manchester, Mo., Timothy of Las Vegas, Mark of Elkhart and David of South Bend; a stepdaughter, Valerie Eckenberger of South Bend; one stepson, Allan Eckenberger of Mishawaka; and a sister, Lauretta Smith of Raliegh, N.C. Mr. Lewinski served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired in 1988 from Barger Packaging as a purchasing agent. He was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
