SOUTH BEND - Genevieve “Gene” Swizek, 86, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016, in Miller's Merry Manor in New Carlisle. Gene was born December 13, 1929, in South Bend, to the late Andrew and Lottie (Romanowski) Swizek. Genevieve was also preceded in death by a sister, Sophie Plencner, and brothers, Andrew and Matthew Swizek. Survivors of Gene include a sister, Wanda (Andrew) Kazmierzak, many very close nephews, and a niece, and a neighbor, Sandy Vodda. Gene retired from the Raco Corporation in 1994 after 25 years. She helped care for her parents for many years. Genevieve was a very simple, good-hearted person. Visitation for Gene is 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, February 22, 2016, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., with a Rosary being prayed at 5:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 23, 2016, in Holy Family Catholic Church.
