"John Hess a well known pioneer farmer, died last night at his home, a few miles west of Buchanan, aged about 75 years (wrong age). Deceased is survived by eight children, five boys and three girls, one of whom, John Hess, is a resident of Niles. Two of the daughters, Mesdames John (Kathryn) Eisle(sp) and William (Caroline) Boyle, reside a few miles south of this place (Niles). The funeral will take place next Sunday morning at 10 o'clock, from the Evangelical church, at Buchanan. Interment will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan."
