SOUTH BEND - Lorraine “Lana” Koszyk, 85, formerly of Indiana Avenue, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2017, in Beaumont Hospice, Royal Oak, Michigan. Lorraine was born October 1, 1932, in South Bend, to the late Edmund and Martha (Gorski) Gorka. On November 25, 1961, in South Bend, Lorraine married Ervin Koszyk, who preceded her in death on April 20, 2012. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Georgian Plicki. Survivors of Lorraine include her son, Mark Koszyk of Birmingham, MI, stepdaughter, Karen (Bob) Watson of North Liberty, and stepson, Ervin J. (Julie) Koszyk, of South Bend; brother and sisters, Edmund Gorka, Patricia Slisz, Geraldine Szuba and Maxine Snider; grandchildren, Sorin, Traci, Aaron, Dustin, Nathan; and several great-grandchildren. Lorraine was a housekeeper at Sorin's and Grace student halls and the residence halls for Father Hesburgh and Father Malloy for 18 years at the University of Notre Dame. Earlier in her life, she hand-painted photos at Alts Camera Shop to make them beautiful. After Alts, she worked as a commercial printer at Olivers. She was also an alterations seamstress with LS Ayers, and after some time off, she developed film at Fox Photos.Lorraine was a former parishioner of St. Mary's of Assumption Catholic Church. She was a member of the VFW in South Bend, and AARP. Lorraine loved dancing in her younger years, crocheting especially afghans, scarves and hats. She enjoyed playing video poker at the casino. Lorraine was also an avid Notre Dame football, Chicago Bears and White Sox fan. Most of all, she took care of her family and was lovingly known as Aunt “Lana.” A Private Service for Lorraine will be held at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Because of Lorraine's love of animals, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Joseph County Humane Society, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
