LA PORTE - Mr. James J. Jesko Sr., 72, La Porte, died at 12:36 p.m. Saturday (March 28, 2009) at La Porte Hospital. Mr. Jesko was born Dec. 9, 1936, in Chicago to Walter and Anna (Hybiak) Jesko. On May 18, 1957, in Ardmore, Okla., he married Hilda "Ann" Anderson, who survives. He retired as a supervisor for NIPSCO after 31 years. Mr. Jesko was an Air Force veteran stationed in Iceland, a member of the Porter County Ham Radio Club, La Porte County Ham Radio Club, La Porte and Porter County weather spotter, La Porte Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer, La Porte County Public Library volunteer, volunteered for Coolspring Township Boy Scout Troop 871, avid bicycle enthusiast, motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed woodworking and played several musical instruments. He leaves behind his wife, Hilda "Ann" Jesko, La Porte; four sons, James Jesko Jr., Lake Villa, Ill., Jon (Jayne) Jesko, Michigan City, Jeffery Jesko, La Porte, and Joseph (Shannon) Jesko, Clinton, Ind.; nine grandchildren, James Jesko III, Alexandra Jesko, Matthew Jesko, Katrina Haynes, Dustin Jesko, Crystal Jesko, Kaitlyn Jesko, Steven Jesko and Joshua Jesko; one great-granddaughter, Audrey Haynes; two sisters, Diane Hilton, Naples, Fla., and Marsha (David) Kindrick, Lawton, Okla.; two brothers, Ronald (Alice) Jesko, Jupiter, Fla., and Daniel (Nancy) Jesko, La Porte; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Essling Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Laue officiating. Burial will be Wednesday at Swan Lake Cemetery, Michigan City, following the service, with military services conducted by the La Porte Honor Guard. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Essling Funeral Home. Family and friends may give their condolences at www.esslingfuneralhome.com.
