SOUTH BEND - Marlene Ryback, 78, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 12:00 a.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014, after a brief illness. She was born on May 9, 1935, in South Bend, IN, the ninth of ten children born to Stanley and Josephine (Hosinski) Wisniewski. On November 12, 1955, in South Bend, IN, she married Leo J. Ryback, who preceded her in death on April 7, 2004. Marlene was a lifelong resident, graduating from South Bend Catholic High School. She retired from the South Bend Community School Corporation after twenty years of service. Marlene enjoyed being with her grandchildren & great-grandchild-ren. She dedicated her life to Leo and her family. Marlene is survived by her children, Cindy (Terry Miller) Piech-Miller, Linda (Bill) Richie, both from South Bend, IN, and Pam (Michael) Weaver of Osceola, IN; grandchildren, Joey Piech, Jeff (Jessica) Piech, Lindsey Maroszan, Austin Weaver and Kristi Lula; great-grandchildren, Jenessa and James Piech, Jimmy, Marrisa and Mariah Lula; brothers, Ron (LouAnn) Wisniewski and Robert (Elaine) Wisner of South Bend, IN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Leona Burkus, and brothers, Stanley, Richard and Chester Wisniewski. The family will gather privately. Marlene's family would like to thank the staff at Westbend Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in South Bend for their outstanding care they gave our mother, especially Moses, Stanley, Paulette and several other staff.
