SOUTH BEND - Debra S. Piechocki, 57, of Osceola, IN, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2014, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend after suffering a brief illness. She was born on December 28, 1956, in South Bend, to the late Arthur J. Piechocki and Margaret McCay. She is survived by her mother, Margaret Piechocki of LaPorte, IN; her aunt, Roberta Kieffer of Michigan City, IN; her daughters, Theresa (Dale) Stringfellow of South Bend and Shawna (Mike) Moreau of LaPorte; seven grandchildren, Cheyanne, Cameron, Nathan, Nicholas, Michael, Yolanda and Timothy (Abbie); a sister, Sharon Ross of Mishawaka, IN; a brother, Terrance Piechocki of LaPorte; and by a nephew, TJ (Jocelyn) Piechocki of Indianapolis, IN. Debra worked as a bartender for several different area restaurants and bars. She loved animals and her nieces and nephews. She was also loved by many friends. To quote one of her dear friends - If you were Debbie's friend, there was nothing she wouldn't do for you. She was always helping "the strays" in her life. She was a teacher, motivator, mentor, k-9 wizard, and so much more. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 pm Saturday, October 25, 2014, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where friends may visit for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to defray funeral expenses or to Pet Refuge, Inc., 4626 Burnett Drive, South Bend, IN 46614.
