SOUTH BEND - Madalen L. Peczkowski passed away peacefully on Saturday. Madalen is survived by her daughter, Pamela A. (Michael) Tajkowski; and sons, Keith D. (Cheryl) Peczkowski and Alan B. (Phoebe) Peczkowski. Visitation will be held in the Kaniewski Funeral Home on Thursday, Feb. 17, from 3-7 p.m. A Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mishawaka, on Friday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held in church from 9-10 a.m. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery next to her beloved husband, Daniel.

SOUTH BEND - Madalen L. Peczkowski, 89, of South Bend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 12, 2011, in the Sanctuary at Holy Cross. On June 22, 1921, she was born in South Bend to the late Michael J. Kramer and Elizabeth A. (Harringer) Kramer. She was a lifelong permanent resident of South Bend. She went to St. Mary's grade school on South Taylor Street and graduated from the former Central High School on June 4, 1940. She went on to study nursing and graduated as a registered nurse from St. Mary's Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, formerly of Gary, now of Hobart, IN. On January 5, 1946, in the Holy Cross Catholic Church in South Bend, she married the love of her life, Daniel Alex Peczkowski. They had 49 wonderful years of married life. Daniel preceded her in death on Sunday, August 27, 1995. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Tony, who died in infancy, and Michael Jr., and three sisters, Helen Palicki, Genevieve Seach and Margaret Wahman. She retired from the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center of South Bend on November 13, 1976. Madalen is survived by her daughter, Pamela A. (Michael) Tajkowski of Mishawaka; a son, Keith D. (Cheryl) Peczkowski of Mishawaka, and a son, Alan B. (Phoebe) Peczkowski of Springfield, OH. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Brian M. (Nicole) Tajkowski of Centerville, OH; Kevin M. Tajkowski of Porter, TX, Cara I. Peczkowski and Cody M. Peczkowski of Phoenix, AZ, Kyle D. Peczkowski of Golden, CO, Daniel R. (Ashley) Peczkowski of Springfield, OH, and Lauren Peczkowski of Springfield, OH. She also has one great-granddaughter, Ashley M. Warsaw of Centerville, OH. Madalen was a praying member of the Legion of Mary, a former member of the Indiana State Board of Nurses Registration and Nursing Education, a former member of Harvest House of St. Anthony de Padua, a Chet Waggoner little league mom, and an avid reader. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka. Visitation will be held at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 North Bendix Drive, on Thursday, February 17, from 3-8 p.m. A Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka on Friday, February 18, at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held in the church from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery next to her beloved husband, Daniel.
