Albert B. Vanderheyden, 80, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018 in Physicians Regional Hospital, Naples, Florida. Albert was born on December 8, 1937 in South Bend to Rene and Mary (Blondia) Vanderheyden. He was the owner of Vanderheyden Eavestrough, a member of the YMCA, DFV German Club and Home Builders Assoc. Al loved to play handball and golf and was a Boy Scout Troop Leader. On October 3, 1959 in South Bend he married the former Sharon Snyder who survives along with 2 daughters Christine (Gordon) Walters of Fort Myers, FL and Diane (Wayne) Thompson of South Bend, 8 grandchildren Joshua Stanfield, Amber Standfield, T.J. Vanderheyden, Niko Vanderheyden, Brynnly Walker, Bailey Walker, Elizabeth Walters and Brandon Walters, and 2 brothers Joseph (Linda) Vanderheyden and Jon (Kathy) Vanderheyden. Al was preceded in death by a son Timothy Vanderheyden, granddaughter Tiffany Stanfield and a brother Michael Vanderheyden. Family and friends may gather from 6-8 Friday, May 18, 2018 in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 South Kemble Avenue, South Bend, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Saturday, May 19, 2018 in St. Jude Catholic Church. His cremated remains will be buried in Crumstown Cemetery at a later date.
