SOUTH BEND - Phyllis S. Markiewicz, 91, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014, in the Sanctuary at St. Paul's. Phyllis was born April 4, 1923, in South Bend, to the late Joseph and Stella (Winerowicz) Rusiecki. On May 10, 1947, in South Bend, Phyllis married Raymond Markiewicz, who preceded her in death on May 25, 2001. Survivors of Phyllis include her children, James (Kathie) Markiewicz of Naples, FL, and Janice (Steven) Thompson of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Amy (Brian) Ward, Daniel (Julie) Markiewicz, Matthew (Samantha) Thompson, and Nathan Thompson; and great-grandchildren, Emily and Alyson Markiewicz, Madelyn Ward and Peyton Tankersley. Phyllis retired in 1986 from Sears after 19 years of service. She was a parishioner of St. Casimir Catholic Church, and a member of the Senior Citizens Club. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation for Phyllis will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, June 2, 2014 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., where a Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, in St. Casimir Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
