Louis Ralph Pinkerton, 79, of Porter, IN, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016, in the loving care of his family. He was born December 26, 1936, in South Bend, IN, to Merritt and Elsie (Voris) Pinkerton. Louis grew up on a farm near Buchanan, MI, and attended school in Buchanan. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a past member of the DAV, American Legion and the Moose. Louis enjoyed fishing and sports. On June 18, 1971, in Michigan City, Indiana, he married Janice (Harris) Pinkerton, who survives. Also surviving are his son, Kevin (Jim) Novreske of Florida; daughters, Carla (Jerry) Novreske of Chesterton, and Dawn (Douglas) Tharp of Westville; brother, Walter (Deanna) Pinkerton of Largo, FL; sisters, Ruth Liska of Niles, MI, Frances (Max) Swaim of Niles, MI and Judith (Ted) Archer of Largo, FL; granddaughter Megan (fiance Chris) Novreske; grandsons, Michael (Taylor) Purcell Tharp and Kevin Stone Tharp; two great-granddaughters, Ryli Purcell and Raynee Purcell; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Merritt, Robert, Jack and Richard Pinkerton. A committal service will be held for immediate family at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. A Celebration of Life reception will be held from 12 noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the Westville United Methodist Church’s Family Life Center, 154 W. Main St., Westville, IN 46391. Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., LaPorte, (219) 362-3100 is caring for the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations be given to the hospice of your choice. The family would like to give a special thank you to Harbor Light Hospice of Crown Point, who gave loving care to Louis and his entire family.
