SOUTH BEND - Dorothy R. Kedik, 88, passed away at 12:50 am Thursday, November 22, 2012 in her residence, surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born February 1, 1924 in South Bend to the late Louis and Gladys (Cholaski) Ewald. On November 4, 1950 in South Bend Dorothy married Mike Kedik; he preceded her in death in November of 2010. Dorothy was also preceded in death by sisters, Helen Rans and Theresa Jannasch. Survivors for Dorothy include her children, Robert Kedik of South Bend, and Gerald Kedik of Oakland, CA; grandchildren, Robert (Tori), Jr., Richard (Rhonda), Ronnie (Toni), Rusty (Corky), and Ricky (Jennifer) Kedik; great-grandchildren, Richard, Cory, Ryan, Travis and Stephanie Kedik, Matthew "Poncho" Martinez, and Dakota Kedik; 2-great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Irene Mackie, and Dolores Gibbs. Dorothy was a Holy Family Parishioner; and she was a Nanny for several area families. During the war Dorothy belonged to the Palais Royal (USO Club); they danced for the service men in a group. Dorothy was an exceptional homemaker, she took great pride in keeping her house very well-kept and her carpets were always perfect. She enjoyed working around the house with her husband, cooking, and most of all raising the family. Visitation for Dorothy will be held 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday, November 26, 2012 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 26, 2012 in Holy Family Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
