SOUTH BEND - Josephine Cyra, 81, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2013, in Memorial Hospital surrounded by her children. Josephine was born November 24, 1931, in Poland, to the late Jan and Rozalia Pazur. Josephine married Eugene Cyra on June 23, 1962, in South Bend, IN. Eugene preceded Josephine in death in 1966. Survivors of Josephine include her son, Edward (Jennifer) Cyra of Chicago, IL; daughter, Yolanda (Alan) Johnson of Lake Elmo, MN; five grandchildren, Nathan Cyra, Joshua, Cassandra, Andrew and Chase Johnson.
Josephine was employed by the Torrington Corporation as an inspector. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Josephine enjoyed visiting the beach at Lake Michigan, was an avid basketball fan, and took great pride in working around her home. Josephine worshipped her grandchildren and her grandchildren loved their Babcia dearly. Visitation for Josephine will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Thursday, August 29, 2013, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, with a Rosary to be prayed at 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., is assisting the family. Burial will follow at St Joseph Cemetery.
