Son of Martin F. and Charlotte (Fisher) Maloney. He graduated from Elkhart High School, Elkhart, Indiana in 1942 and joined the US Army Air Corps, serving as a B-24 Liberator pilot in Italy during World War II where he flew 17 combat missions. He was the president and owner of Acrowire Accessories Inc. of Rolling Prairie, Indiana and Master Machine Inc. of Elkhart, retiring in 1997.
