Robert L. Pontius, 86, of Plymouth, IN passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022, at Miller's Merry Manor in Plymouth, following an extended illness, with his loved ones by his side. Bob was born in October 29, 1935 in Tyner, IN to the late Harold and Blanche (Burket) Pontius. On December 11, 1954, in North Liberty, IN. he married Wanda A. Gouker, who survives, along with their daughter, Sandra (Jack) Cartwright of Plymouth, sons, Steven (Terri) Pontius of South Bend and Scott A. (Shellie) Pontius of Port Orange, FL, six (6) grandchildren and eight (8) great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three (3) brothers, Donald Pontius of Birmingham, AL, Richard (Colleen) Pontius of Ft. Wayne, IN and Jim (Sandy) Pontius of Mishawaka. He was preceded in death by three sisters and 2 brothers.Bob was employed for over forty (40) years at Hass Concrete Company, as a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, watching sports, John Glenn sports, Indiana University Basketball, Chicago Bears, NASCAR, and being with his loving family. He was a member of the Sons of the Legion at the American Legion Post 27 of Plymouth. Visitation for Bob will be on Thursday, October 13th from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Hanley and Son Funeral Home "Walkerton Chapel" located at 1216 Roosevelt Road, Walkerton, IN. The funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, in the funeral home with Steven Boyer officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton, IN. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 189, Sons of the Legion.
