Betty R. Zelasko, residing in South Bend, passed away at 2:38 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2022 at the Raclin House, Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka following a brief illness. She was 89 years old. She was born January 6, 1933 in South Bend, the daughter of Vincel & Zelma (Dobbins) Burch, and has remained a lifelong resident. On May 24, 1958 in South Bend, Betty was united in marriage to Donald J. Zelasko, and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage until his passing on July 7, 2020. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Reva Overholt and Maritta Walters, along with a brother Carrol Burch. Betty is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Terry) Trethewey of South Bend; and Julia (Ron) Wamser of New Buffalo, MI; along with five grandchildren, Melissa (Stuart Wuergler) Trethewey, Jared Trethewey, Riley Trethewey, Kristen Wamser, and Laura Wamser, and three great-grandchildren, Quinn, Cali, and Landon Wuergler. Also surviving Betty are her sisters, Dorothy (Dave) Cornwell of Texas; Donna Coe of South Bend; Mary (David) Bolenbaugh of Palm City, FL; and Lois (Charles) Woolcott of Horseshoe Bay, TX, along with many nieces and nephews. Betty was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She loved being with her family, and never wanted to miss out on any adventure or trip. Visitation for Betty will be from 10:00 -11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 5, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel. 3718 South Michigan St., South Bend.
