[N5237] Louis M. Toth
May 22, 1928 - Feb. 13, 2013
LIVONIA, MI - Louis M. Toth died from complications due to congestive heart failure on February 13, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Livonia. He was born on May 22, 1928 in South Bend, IN to Louis (Rose Horvath) Toth. Surviving are his committed and loving wife of 61 years, Alice; his four sons, Mike of Wayne, Dan (Janice Derian) of Plymouth, Paul (Patricia Muyskens) of Bloomington, IN, and David (Laura) of Brunswick, OH; his many grandchildren, Rachel (Ted) Allanson, Alexandra Derian-Toth, Meredith Derian-Toth, Casey Muyskens-Toth, Madison Derian-Toth, Garret Derian-Toth, Noah Toth, & Paige Toth; great-granddaughter, Lyla Allanson and her soon-to-be little brother, and many nieces and nephews. Louie was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Irma Gassensmith, and his grandson, Colin Derian-Toth. Louie was employed as a dedicated design engineer by Studebaker car manufacturing in South Bend, IN until 1962, and from 1962 until 1992 he worked for Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI. During his life Louie loved spending time with his family --especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time in his yard and garden -- tomatoes and peppers from heaven, and fishing for perch and walleye on Lake Erie at Breast Bay. He also took great pride in his Hungarian heritage, cooking all things Hungarian including goulash over an open fire in his back yard, making red wine, and smoking sausage and pork ribs in his mini-smoke house on his patio. He will be missed by us all. Memorial donations in Louie's honor may be made to Children's Hospital of Detroit. Memorial Gathering will be held at Fred Wood Funeral Home-Rice Chapel, 36100 5 Mile Rd., Livonia (E. of Levan) Saturday, 2-4 pm. Please visit his online guest book at www.fredwoodfuneralhome.com.
