SOUTH BEND - Joseph J. Csiszar, 88, caring and devoted husband of 67 years, passed away at 6:00 PM Sunday, November 30, 2014 in South Bend. Joseph was born on July 3, 1926 in South Bend to the late Joseph and Elizabeth "Priscilla" B. (Bali) Csiszar and has been a lifelong resident of this area. During WWII, Joseph served his country honorably in the United States Navy as a Fire Controlman Range Finder in the Gunnery Division aboard the U.S.S. Wasp CV-18, in Admiral "Bull" Halsey's 3rd Fleet, and was off the Coast of Japan when the atomic bomb was dropped. On his return home, he was united in marriage to Irene Toth on July 19, 1947 at Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church in South Bend. She survives, along with one daughter, Dr. Lynne Csiszar Cary (Barton) of Granger, IN; and grandchildren, Taylor Cary and Andrew Cary of Granger, IN, and Kelly A. Csiszar of Bates, ME. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Diane DeMeyer (Robert) of LaPorte, IN, Andrew Mills (Lisa) of New Carlisle, IN, Betty Jo Sales (Leonard) of LaPorte, IN, and Carla Huegel (Mark) of South Bend, IN. Beloved son, Charles E. Csiszar is sadly deceased; also a sister, Marian Mills, brother, Carl Csiszar, and nephew, Tom Csiszar. Joseph was the owner of SRG Sales Agency, and enjoyed traveling extensively in his work. He coached at East Side Little League for 25 years, and especially enjoyed coaching his son, Chuck. He was a longtime member of Saint Anthony De Padua Church, South Bend, and member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks # 235, and the Lions Club. Memorial services for Joseph J. Csiszar will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Palmer Funeral Home River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615. Friends may gather with the family one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Enichment will take place at 2nd Presbyterian Church Memorial Gardens, Indianapolis at a later date.
