A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at Asbury United Methodist Church in Eugene for Helen Hurd of Eugene, who died April 26 of complications from a stroke. She was 93.
She was born May 2, 1918, in St. Joseph, Mo. She married F. Grant Hurd on June 5, 1942.
She worked in food services for the Springfield School District. Survivors include a son, David of Eugene; a daughter, Mary Hurd-Phillips of Happy Valley; two sisters, Sister Florence of Mishawaka, Ind., and Joyce Bolz of Ontario; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Her husband and a son, Danny Hurd, died previously. A private family burial is planned at Lane Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene. Remembrances to Lane County Animal Regulation Authority or Greenhill Humane Society.
