EDWARDSBURG - Frieda M. Chmilewski, 85, passed away with her family by her side on Friday, October 16, 2015 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Frieda was born December 9, 1929 in South Bend to the late Albert "George" and Helen (Berdzinski) Zalas. On February 3, 1951, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Frieda married her loving husband of 64 years, Frank Chmilewski; he survives along with their children, Marcia (Ronald) Koelndorfer of Bremen, Michael (Susan) Chmilewski of Louisville, KY and Francine (Scot) Farver of Newton, IA; sister, Lillian Brock of South Bend, 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Frieda was co-owner of Frank's Products C.N.C. Machining of Elkhart, IN and retired in 2009. She was a choir member and parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Parish Community Church. Frieda was past president of MR Falconettes and Elkhart Symphony Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed travelling around the world and made it to all the continents except Antarctica. Her treasured past time was "gaming" at the casinos. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm on Friday, October 23, 2015 in Our Lady of The Lake Parish Community Church, 24832 U.S. 12 East, Edwardsburg, Michigan 49112 with a visitation from 10:00 am to12:00 pm in the church. A private burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. is assisting the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Edwardsburg Food Pantry.
