Evelyn C. Gianinno, 91, residing in Elkhart, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 19, 2014 at East Lake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Evelyn was born on April 14, 1923 in Gary, Indiana to the late John and Cecilia (Piertzak) Nowak. As the former Evelyn C. Nowak, she married Victor J. Gianinno on October 9, 1946. Victor died on December 11, 2002. In addition to her parents and husband, brothers, Eugene and John Nowak preceded her in death. Surviving are her children, Lawrence "Larry" (Susan) Gianinno of Boston, Marcianne "Marcy" Gianinno of Chicago, Justine Gianinno of Elkhart and Mary (James) Chomer of Middlebury; loving grandchildren, Alexandra (Marc Gronowitter) Gianinno , Carly (Michael) Smaha , Andrew (Roya) Chomer; four great grandchildren, Abigail, Ryan and Bridget Granowitter and Bennett Smaha and a soon to arrive grandson, Theodore Chomer; sister-in-laws, Judith Nowak of Hobart and Molly Nowak of Crown Point, survive as well. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She formerly worked as the secretary for her husband Victor at General Beer Distributors. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and Married Women's Club.

Burial: Rice Cemetery, Elkhart County, IN
