NILES - Kathleen Etta Boller, (nee Birong), age 91, passed away on Sunday, April 25th at West Woods Nursing Home in Niles, where she had been a patient for five years. She was born on July 10, 1929, to Phillip and Christine (Robertson) Birong of Buchanan, Michigan, and was the youngest of four children. She attended and graduated from Buchanan schools. Her parents and siblings preceded her in death. She met and married the late Leo P. Boller, of Niles, in 1951. He preceded her in death on April 25th, 1976, after 25 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter Renee (Robert)Norlander, son Timothy (partner Ruth Slater) Boller; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Her son, Dennis, preceded her in death in 2007. Kathleen and Leo started an account receivable business in 1963, but after Leo's death, she went to work for the William Alford Company for almost twenty years in their offices. She retired at age 62 but worked several part-time jobs until she retired permanently. She thoroughly enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle, and traveling with friends and family. She was a fanatic Chicago Cubs fan and loved Notre Dame Football. She also enjoyed golf and loved playing with her sons. She had many wonderful friends throughout her life and sadly many are no longer with us. She was truly loved and will be missed by many, many people. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Brown Funeral Home, 521 E. Main St. Niles, Michigan. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions in her memory may be directed to a local dementia research organization of your choice. In keeping with the Covid-19 guidelines, our gathering is limited, the State of Michigan requires all in attendance to follow all guidelines including, social distancing, mandatory mask, and hand sanitizing.
