Parentage and marriage:
St. Hedwig Catholic Church death records: Theophila Makielski, 76, who died 7/6/1934, was the daughter of John Witt. The 1900 census household of the Peter and Teofila Makielski family in South Bend, St. Joseph Co., IN includes Mary Witt, 72, widow, mother-in-law, born in Poland, immigrated in 1859. The Witt family lived in Goshen, Elkhart Co., Indiana, where on Jan 14, 1875, Peter Makielski married Josephine (sic) Witt.
The 1900 census record of the Peter and Teofila Makielski family in South Bend, St. Joseph Co., IN, indicates that Peter and Teofila were born in Poland; Peter immigrated in 1873, Teofila, in 1859; and that they had been married 25 years.
Children:
The 1900 census record indicates that Teofila had had 12 children of whom 9 were living. The 1880 and 1900 census records and the St. Hedwig Catholic Church death records paired with the gravestones in the family lot indicate the following children (in birth order): John, Frank, Anton, Ludwig, Edvard, Anna, Martha, Charles, Joseph, Edward, Mamie, and Stephen.
