SOUTH BEND - Harold Berebitsky, 88, a lifelong resident of the South Bend-Mishawaka area, except for the last two weeks of his life, passed away peacefully July 13, 2014. Harold was born September 10, 1925, to the late Sam and Leah Berebitsky. He was the youngest of 10 children. On March 28, 1948, he married Lena Calderon. They had 62 wonderful years together before her passing in 2010. Left to cherish his memory are four sons, Paul (Ann) of Indianapolis, Roger (Mara) of Beaverton, OR, Larry of Olympia, WA, and Jerry (Diksha) of Olympia, WA; his brother, Abe; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Harold graduated from Tri State College with a degree in mechanical engineering and spent most of his career in the electrical contracting business, working into his mid-70s. He was a member of B'nai B'rith, and participated on its softball and bowling teams, including one bowling team featuring several of the Berebitsky brothers. He was also an active member of Sinai Synagogue. Services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 16, at 1 PM in the chapel at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery, near the corner of Jefferson and Logan, enter off Calhoun.
