Stevens Point Journal - Oct. 7 1947
Age 95, a resident of Stevens Point and Portage County for many years, died this morning at 2:30 o'clock at St. Michael's hospital. She had been making her home with a son, Casper Witkowski, 710 Water Street. Her condition had been serious the past six months and she entered the hospital a month ago. Mrs. Witkowski was born on Jan. 6, 1852, in Poland. Her maiden name was Mary Zielinski. She married Anton Witkowski in Poland 73 years ago. They came to this country 65 years ago and after residing in Buffalo, NY for a short time they came to Portage county. Mr. & Mrs. Witkowski lived on a farm in the town of Sharon until 35 years ago when they retired and moved to Stevens Point. Mr. Witkowski died in 1929. Mrs.Witkowski had lived with her son the past year and a half. She was the mother of 13 children, nine of whom survive. There are seven sons, Matt of Big Falls, Minn; Joseph, Vincent and Casper of Stevens Point; Leo of Rosholt; and Theodore and Ed of Muskegon, Mich.; and two daughters, Mrs. Anne Armatowski of Custer and Mrs. Anthony Suchon of Muskegon. Also surviving are 63 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren. Mrs. Witkowski was a member of the Rosary society of St. Stanislaus' Catholic church. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Stanislaus' church and burial will follow in Guardian Angel cemetery beside her husband. The body is at the Prais funeral home where the rosary will be said this evening and Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock.
