He married Elizabeth in 1942 after attending the University of Madison School Of Journalism (class of 1928). After graduated he moved to Mt. Prospect, Illinios. He was involved in local politics for thirty years in a number of different roles. Beginning in 1954 he was a village Trustee for seven years and ending when he was elected Mayor in 1961. He worked in the newspaper business for many years. He was for a time a reporter and editor for the Star-Courier he was also on the editorial staff at the Chicago Daily News. In 1972 he became the Executive Director of the Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce until 1979. He was also a founding member of the Mount Prospect Historical Society.
