SOUTH BEND - Richard Harold Miller, residing in South Bend, passed away peacefully at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2014 in his home, two days after his 71st birthday. He was born September 21, 1943 in Marshall County, IN, a son of Raymond & Erma (Hygema) Miller, and has lived in the Lakeville-South Bend area all of his life. Mr. Miller retired in 2006 from A.M. General Corp where he was employed for 31 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He restored 17 Mustangs, and especially loved one he called "Baby". He was an avid bowler and bowled two 300 games. Most especially, he loved his yard and flowers which is very evident, as so many have been able to enjoy it as they walk or drive by. He is survived by his daughters, Angela (Kenneth) O'Rorke, and Amy (Sklas Norrhed) Miller, both of St. Petersburg, FL; two step-children, Noelle (Peter) Ten Eyck of Carmel, IN: and Justin (Lacy) Normandin of Niles, MI. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Lucy & Owen Ten Eyck, and Avery and Michael Normandin, his companion, Carol Dove of South Bend, IN; his sister, Marilyn (Jerry) Gundlach of Lakeville, IN; two brothers, Ernest (Judy) Miller of Cape Coral, FL; and Howard Miller of Edwardsburg, MI; and two sisters-in-law, Linda Miller of Durham, NC; and Wanda Miller of Bremen, IN; as well as many nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 27, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Lakeville Chapel, 314 South Michigan Street, Lakeville, IN. Rev. Dan Drake will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy on behalf of Mr. Miller may be offered to the Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Drive, Mishawka, IN 46545 or to the Donor's choice.
