NEW CARLISLE - Gerald "Jerry" Humberger, 75, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014, in his home surrounded by his family. Jerry was born May 16, 1939, in South Bend, to the late Adalbert and Irene (Futa) Humberger. On February 9, 1959, in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Jerry married his loving wife of 55 years, Mary (Coleman) Hum-berger; she survives along with their children, Richard "Rick" Humberger and Kathryn Harrison; grandchildren, Nicole, Jason and Daniel; great-grandson, Hayden; and brothers, David (Geneva) and Michael Humberger. Jerry was employed as a machinist with Stude-baker, Torrington, and Tinken Corp. He was an honorary member of the American Legion Post #297. He loved working in his garden and the outdoors. Jerry enjoyed playing his guitar, euchre, horse-shoes, and fishing. Most of all, Jerry treasured his family time. Visitation for Jerry will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Sunday, September 28, 2014, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., where a Funeral Ceremony will be celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, September 29, 2014. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family would like to thank all who helped at St. Anthony Franciscan Hospice for their loving support. Memorial contributions may be made to the Inpatient Hospice Center, Franciscan Communities at Franciscan St. Anthony Health, 5 West, 301 West Homer Street, Michigan City, IN 46360.
