According to the 1900 census of South Bend, John Pietrzak and his wife Petronela were both born in Poland, had immigrated in 1891, and had been married seven years. Petronela had had four children from her first marriage, all of whom were living with them (in birth order): Joseph, Ludwika (aka Louise), Martha, and Teofila (aka Frieda), all born in Poland.
In 1920 and in 1921, John and Petronela Pietrzak filed for divorce in St. Joseph Co.; both cases were dismissed. -Divorce Records Index, sbags.org
John Pietrzak died in 1926. The understanding of the informant for his Indiana death certificate was that John was divorced.
At the time of the 1930 census, Petronela Pietrzak, a widow, was living with her daughter Louise, wife of Frank Poznan, and their family in South Bend.
Petronela Pietrzak died in 1939. Her date and place of death are given in her Indiana death certificate for which the informant was her daughter, Louise Poznan. She reported that her mother was the widow of John Pietrzak. It was her understanding that her mother had been born Sep. 29, 1864 in Poland to Frank Radzinski.
