Mary C. Fobe, 96, of Berkley Circle, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away on Monday, Sept. 17, in her home. Mary was born on June 17, 1905, in Hansbeke, Belgium, as the daughter of the late Julius and Alice (Buyssee) De Witte. On May 11, 1925, in St. Bavo's Catholic Church in Mishawaka, as Mary De Witte, she married Adolf Fobe, who preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1974. She was also preceded by three brothers, George, Marcel and Joseph De Witte. Mary is survived by her son, George (Odette) Fobe of Mishawaka; two grandchildren, Christine (Thomas) Eberhardt and Gregory (Mary Ellen) Fobe; three step-grandchildren, Carla Forsythe, James Barcus and Katherine Waletzko; five great-grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth, Christopher, Katelyn and Ryan Eberhardt, and Kyle Fobe; seven step-great-grandchildren, Brandy, Matthew, Sean, Brandon, Brittany, Steven and Jennica; a brother, Leon De Witte of Sebring, Fla.; three nieces, Rita DeMaegd, Mary Lou Karmolinski and Jo Ann Schmaulkuche; three nephews, George De Witte, Eric Lattrez and Etinne Lattrez; and by a special friend and caregiver, Sue Spangler. Mary and her husband were the owners and founders of the West End Bakery where she worked for 64 years before retiring in 1987. Mary was a member of St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, and was a lifetime auxiliary member of the BK Club, Mishawaka. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 2:30 p.m. today, Sept. 18, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W 8th Street, Mishawaka. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19, in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Contributions in memory of Mary may be made to St. Bavo's Catholic Church, 511 W. 7th Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
