WALKERTON - Bertha Awald Shores, 87, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2008, in LaPorte, IN. Mrs. Shores was born September 2, 1921, in Havana, IL, to George and Nellie (Shimerhorn) Rupert, and had lived most of her life in the area. On March 16, 1940, she was married to DeLois Awald, who preceded her in death on July 12, 1966. On November 20, 1970, she was married to Donald Shores, who preceded her in death on February 19, 1972. She was also preceded in death by one son, Paul Awald, her parents, six brothers and a sister. Survivors include four sons, Peter (Karen) Awald, Timothy (Sue) Awald, Daniel (Mary Ann) Awald, all of Koontz Lake, and Mark Awald; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Shores was a homemaker and a member of the Walkerton United Pentecostal Church. Private funeral services will be held at a later date at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Walkerton United Pentecostal Church, 1174 Lake St., Walkerton, IN 46574.
