Evelyn D. Gariepy, 93, of South Bend, IN and formerly of La Porte, IN passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Healthwin Specialized Care in South Bend. She was born January 10, 1928 in La Porte to the late William and Daisy (Geisler) Schoof. On January 26, 1952 Evelyn married Ernest J. Gariepy, who preceded her in death in 1996. In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn is preceded in death by her siblings, Irene, Willard, Louise, Richard, Joann, Agnes, Marcella, William, and Verne. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Linda Norem of Kingman, AZ; sons, David (Lois) Gariepy of South Bend, IN and Michael Gariepy of La Porte, IN; sister, Bernadine Pinks of Kingsford Heights, IN; six grandchildren, Kurt (Peggy) Norem, Diane (John) Himes, Paul (Lori) Norem, Jaclyn (Tim) Werner, Chris (Kris) Gariepy, and Nathan (Alexa) Gariepy; step-grandchildren, Jeremy (Jama) Hancock, and Sarah Hancock; and many great-grandchildren. Evelyn grew up on a farm in Union Mills, IN, and her fondest memories revolved around her shared experiences with her ten brothers and sisters. At an early age, she became familiar with hard work and continued to work throughout her life into her early eighties. Even though Evelyn worked various jobs, she always took care of her family and made sure they had a good home. In keeping with Evelyn’s wishes, there will not be any services. Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements. Contributions in memory of Evelyn may be made to Healthwin Specialized Care,
