SOUTH BEND - Carol Jordanek, 60, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016, in Wellbrooke Rehabilitation Facility of South Bend. Carol was born November 2, 1956, in South Bend, to the late Wilbur and Doris (Walters) Newgent. Carol was also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, Joseph & Thomas Newgent; a niece, Tina Jiles; and sister-in-law, JoAnn Newgent. Survivors of Carol include her children, Christina (Michael Meyers) Newgent, and Adam Jordanek; grandson, Dylan Caraway; brother, Michael (Sharol) Newgent; sister, Kathryn Kanczuzewski; longtime companion, Eugene Nickerson; many dearly loved nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law and best friend, Susan Kreuter. Carol worked as a customer service associate for Commercial Office Products. She was a member of PNA 83 where she enjoyed many years of bowling and fun times with friends. She also enjoyed crocheting, collecting clowns, feeding seagulls and many trips to the casino. With her fun, humorous, spunky personality the time spent with family and friends was very special to her, especially if she could get them to pose for a photo to capture the moment. She was always the life of the party. Christmas was her favorite holiday; Carol's family could always count on the house being decorated with many villages and a short, fat tree. Most of all, she loved her cats and family dearly. A special “Thank You” to everyone at DaVita Dialysis: You were truly family and friends to Carol. Visitation for Carol is 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, December 29, 2016, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, December 30, 2016, in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
