SOUTH BEND - Mary Jo Zawierucha, 66, passed away at 10:30 pm Sunday, April 19, 2015 in West Bend Nursing Home. Mary Josephine Zawierucha was born on December 20, 1948 in South Bend to Andrew and Helen (Kendziora) Zawierucha. She was employed by the University of Notre Dame and the South Bend Community School Corporation and was a resident of Walnut Grove for many years. Mary Jo was a volunteer with Chiara Home and was a loving and protective sister to her brother Jimmy, whom she loved dearly. Surviving are her brother, James Zawierucha of South Bend, aunt, Mary Nawrocki of South Bend and several cousins. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to West Bend Nursing Home and their staff for their care for Mary Jo. Funeral services will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 22, 2015 in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call 1 hour prior to services in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Logan Industries, St. Joseph County Special Olympics or Chiara Home.
