SOUTH BEND - Joseph R. Nemes, 91, passed away at 9:05am Wednesday, May 3, 2017 in Memorial Hospital.Joseph was born on March 7, 1926 in South Bend to George and Mary (Sestak) Nemes. He was employed by RACO, was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, enjoyed bowling and was a World War II Navy veteran. On October 25, 1947 in South Bend, he married the former Betty Schosker. She died on November 29, 1993. Joe was also preceded in death by 5 sisters, Mary Weiss, Helen Redling, Gizella Nemeth, Rose Nemeth and Elizabeth Kadlec; and 3 brothers, Andrew Nemes, Albert Nemes and George Nemes.Surviving are two daughters, Constance Rutledge of Niles and Crystal (Todd) Kress of New Carlisle, a son, Ronald (Connie) Nemes of Elkhart; six grandchildren, Louis, Sheri, Scott, Benjamin, Andrea, and Kyle, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be celebrated at 1:00pm Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in The Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-8 Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Association .
