[N33372] Shane A. Carbiener
September 6, 1973 - October 8, 2022

Shane A. Carbiener, 49, passed away unexpectedly, at him home in North Liberty on October 8, 2022. Shane was born on September 6, 1973, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Kevin Carbiener and Cynthia J. (Bunch) Germaine. Shane graduated from John Glenn High School in 1992, where he served as class president. After graduating, Shane began his lifelong career at AT &T, most recently employed in the role of engineer. On March 10, 2005, Shane married Shelby M. Zaworski. Shelby survives along with their daughter, Sidney Jo Carbiener (Sam Katrowich), his mother, Cynthia Germaine of Walkerton, sister, Kimberly (Chris) Clarke of Spokane, Washington. Surviving as well are grandparents, Barbara Carbiener, Larry (Mary) Bunch, mother and father-in-law, Joseph and Debra Zaworski, sisters-in-law, Sheila (Dean) Chandler, Shannon Jannik, nephews, Joseph Chandler and Hadien Clark, nieces, Kaylin (Cory Duval) Chandler, Kalee Davidson, Emily Clark, great nieces and nephews, Addilyn Brookrich, Jessa Duval and Jake Duval, along with many aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Kevin Carbiener, stepfather, Rich Germaine, grandparents, Lura Bunch and Keith Carbiener. Shane had many hobbies. He particularly enjoyed metal detecting. He loved to research the history of his finds and share his knowledge. He liked to hunt, fish, roll dice. He could often be found in his garage with a game or music on the TV and a fire burning in the wood stove where he would then ask “wanna play some dice?” His constant canine companion, Jackson, was never far from his side. Shane was fortunate to have lifelong friends, that he considered family; Wade and Bonnie Salyer and their son, James, his childhood friends Jason, Johnny, Eric and Marshall. Shane was someone who enjoyed simple things, cooking, canning with his wife, having a conversation, and hosting people in his home. He fulfilled a dream when he was able to move his family back to North Liberty. Shelby and Sidney will forever be grateful to those who have offered prayers, sent a meal, showed support and expressed their condolences. Memorial contribution may be made in Shane’s name to Pet Refuge, 4626 Burnette Drive, South Bend, IN 46614. The family will have a Celebration of Life for Shane on Saturday November 12, 2022, from 2-5pm at Firefighter’s Union Hall, 4025 Lincolnway West, South Bend. Please join us as we celebrate Shane, a life well lived but gone to soon. The Hanley and Sons Funeral Home and Cremation Service handled arrangements and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to Shane’s family and friends.
