SOUTH BEND -- To honor the Sporleder family's service to Roseland Park and community, the town of Roseland will dedicate a pavilion Saturday. The pavilion will be named Sporleder Family Pavilion in Roseland Park. Don Sporleder, the current park board president, and his wife, Joan, will attend the dedication. Roseland Treasurer Robin Ackerson said the community is grateful for the endeavors of the Sporleder family in developing the park. "The Sporleders were instrumental in getting the acreage to get used as a park back in the '70s," Ackerson said. "Originally, it was just a field across the street from their home within the town limits." Ackerson said the family took matters into their own hands to get the funds necessary to transform the land into a beautiful park. The town also will recognize Roseland Rotary Club, to thank members for their donations and volunteerism toward keeping the park clean. The award presentation will begin at 9 a.m. at Roseland Park. The park is on West Cripe Street.
