SOUTH BEND - Debra K. Nagy, 60, of South Bend, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2016, at Hospice House, South Bend. She was born on October 10, 1955, in South Bend, to the late Harold and Marlene (Bronski) Knefely, and was a lifelong area resident. On September 2, 1978, as Debra K. Knefely, she married Thomas J. Nagy, who survives. Along with her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Katie (Jesse) Clinton of Chicago, IL; her son, Chris Nagy of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren, Charlotte and Benjamin; a sister, Penny (Dave) VanderLugt of Demotte, IN; and two brothers, Kerry (Michelle) and Mike (Maria) Knefely, both of South Bend. She was preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Knefely. Deb worked as a Registered Nurse for Memorial Hospital for 32 years, before retiring in 2010. She was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She loved gardening, dancing, and her family and friends. Deb was very charismatic, she was a friend to all. A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2016, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. SOUTH BEND Debi K. and Thomas J. Nagy of 26647 Durness Woods Drive will celebrate their 30th anniversary with a family trip in December to Central America, where they will attend the wedding of their son, Christopher of Cornelius, N.C. Thomas Nagy and Debi Knefely married Sept. 2, 1978, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. They also have a daughter, Katie Nagy of Morristown, N.J. Mr. Nagy has been an electrician with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 153 for 30 years, the last eight with AM General Corp. at its H2 Plant, Mishawaka. Mrs. Nagy, a registered nurse, has been employed for 31 years by Memorial Hospital. They have lived in South Bend and Mishawaka all of their lives.
